John May Cemetery, also called Hooper-May
Cemetery will start Saturday, March 19, 2005, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Water and lunch will be provided. Bring your own tools, gloves, etc.
Two trailers will be provided to haul away the debris.
Many graves are unmarked. If you know anyone who is
buried at this cemetery, please submit the name(s) to Edgel Permenter, P. O.
box 326, Joaquin, TX 75952 or call 936-269-3483.

ERNEST STANFIELD Ernest Stanfield, 88, of Center died February 9, 2005, in Center. Burial was in Old Salem Cemetery. Born March 10, 1916, in Garrison, he was the son of Edwin Shirley and Nettie Skelton Stanfield. Mr. Stanfield was a veteran of World War II and a member of Sam Samford Masonic Lodge. Survivors include wife, Essie Warr Stanfield of Center; daughter, Ernistine Stanfield of Center; son, Robert Edwin Stanfield of Ocean Springs, Mississippi; brother, Vernon Stanfield of Houston. ANNETTE BROUGH FOWLER Annette Brough Fowler, 44, of Henderson, Nevada died February 6, 2005, in Henderson, Nevada. Burial was in Tennessee Cemetery, Tenaha. Mrs. Fowler was a private investigator. Survivors include husband, Christopher Fowler; mother, Dorothy Brough; father, William Brough; and sister, Vianna Cheshire. |
BESSIE LAVERNE GANN NORTON Bessie Laverne Gann Norton, 85, of San Augustine died February 13, 2005, in San Augustine. Burial was in Patroon Cemetery. Born March 14, 1919, in Shelby County, she was the daughter of Marion and Minnie Monroe Gann. Mrs. Norton was a Homemaker. She was married to A. P. Norton, and he preceded her in death. Survivors include sons, Lamar Norton and Kenneth North, both of Shelbyville; daughters, Bobbie Stewart of Spring and Linda Blackmon of Shelbyville; brother, Jewell Gann of Ore City. CHARLES R. DAVIS Charles R. Davis, 81, of Nacogdoches died February 16, 2005. Burial was in White Rock Cemetery, Shelby County. Born March 26, 1923, in Timpson, he was the son of Easter Morris and Dettie Gee Chandler Davis. Mr. Davis was self-employed with Crescent Insulators. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Mickey Lynn Davis and sister, Yvonne Chaney. Survivors include wife, Betty Dorrell Davis of Nacogdoches; daughters, Linda Fay Abshire of Plantersville, Betty Charlene Romans of Bethel, Main; sons, Charles R. Davis, Jr., Billy C. Davis, both of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Tommy Glen Davis of Benbrook, James Michael Porter of Picayune, Mississippi; brothers, Easter M. Davis Jr. of Russell, Kansas, George E.
