The Shelby County
Historical Society will hold its monthly meeting March 20, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. in
the Shelby County Museum on Pecan Street. Our guest speaker this month will be
Mr. Bill O'Neal. Mr. O'Neal is the Texas State Historian and is a well-known
author. He has written many books about the history of Texas. He taught history
for many years at Panola College. Everyone is invited to attend.

OBITUARIES
MYOE MIN Myoe Min, 28, of Center, Texas, died February 19, 2018 in Center. He was born on January 12, 1990 in Myanmar. Myoe moved to the United States in 2007 and went straight to work in Arizona and then Iowa before moving to Texas. He began working for Tyson in 2015. He did all that he could to help support his parents, brothers and sisters that still live in Myanmar. He was so proud of one of brothers in Myanmar, Naing Naing Puang, who graduated from college. PARRISH LeFern Moffett Parrish, 91, of Waco, died January 23, 2018. Interment was in White Hall Cemetery in Woodway. She was born January 23, 1927 in Center, Texas, to F. L. and Lenore Moffett. She graduated from Center High School. Survivors include, Husband, Mitchell Parrish; Children, Larry Parrish & wife, Paula of Ft. JOHNNY MACK BROWN Johnny Mack Brown, 65, of Tenaha, Texas, died February 9, 2018 at his residence. A memorial will be held at his residence on Sunday, March 4, 2018 at 1pm. He was born February 24, 1952 in Spiro, Oklahoma to Lee Roy & Viola Brown. He was drafted to the Army where he graduated top in his class at sniper school & went on to become a Paratrooper. While serving in the Vietnam War, he was awarded the Purple Heart Medal after surviving malaria & 9 days in a coma. NORVELL HOLT Norvell Holt, 97, of Center, Texas, died February 26, 2018 in Nacogdoches, Texas. Interment was in Oaklawn Memorial Park, Center, Texas. She was born on June 28, 1920 in Center to Henry David Spells and Mineola Fletcher Spells. She was preceded in death by, Husbands, A. J. Williams and Ira “Harry” Holt; Parents; Seven Siblings. GRAFKE Monette Mathews Grafke, 57, died February 13, 2018 in Columbia, Missouri. She was born Cecilia Monette Mathews in Center, Texas on February 14, 1960. She graduated from Center High School. She was preceded in death by, Parents, Wava and Victor Mathews; Brother, Murray Mathews.
