 Did you Know?
Isson Garrett got the honor of having the largest family, of any person in the 12th Texas Census in Shelby County in 1930.  Mr. Garrett had 20 children.  They were four sets of twins and one set of triplets among the number.

OBITUARIES
NORMA LAVERNE BASS
    Norma LaVerne Bass, 83, of Tenaha died March 1, 2008, in New Braunfels.  Burial was in Clever Creek Cemetery.  Born June 10, 1924, she was the Daughter of Luther and Evie Askew Wright.  Ms. Bass was a beautician.  Survivors include daughter Jane Foster of Pasadena, Norma Jean Rossi of New Braunfels; Son, John Ballard of New Braunfels; Sister, Fran Clark and Millie Warr both of Center and Nell Williams of New  Braunfels.  Mangum Funeral Home.
JIMMY WAYNE NICHOLS
    Jimmy Wayne Nichols, 71, of Center died March 2, 2008 at his residence.  Burial was in East Hamilton Cemetery, Shelby County.  Born March 20, 1936, in Shelbyville, he was the son of Sam C. Nichols and Delia Goochie Nichols.  Mr. Nichols was preceded in death by his parents,; Brothers, Alton Buddy Nichols and Sam C. Nichols; Sisters, Allie Mae Wright and Velma Gray.  Survivors include Wife, Sharon Nichols of Tyler; Daughters, Connie Branch of Port Lavaca, Brandy Michele Kennon Jones of Center; Son, Jeffrey Coleman Nichols of Tyler; Sisters, Vera Wilson of Center and Bernice Brittain, both of Center.  Watson & Sons Funeral Home.
JUDY MCSWAIN SAMMONS
    Judy McSwain Sammons, 58, died March 3, 2008.  Burial was in Oaklawn Memorial Park.  Born June 19.1949, she was the daughter of D. C. and Lucille McSwain.  Ms. Sammons was preceded in death by Mother, Lucille McSwain; Husband, George Sammons; Sisters, JoGail McSwain and Joyce Carol McSwain; Brother, Lonnnie Carl McSwain.  Survivors include Father, D. C. McSwain of Center; Daughters, Joyce Moore of Timpson, Samantha Sammons Vidrine of Center, Janan Ross of Shreveport, Louisiana; Sister, Joan Baldwin of Center.  Watson & Sons Funeral Home. 
STEPHEN DOUGLAS RICHARDS
    Stephen Douglas Richards, 65, of Friendswood died March 2, 2008 in Houston.  Burial was in Jackson Cemetery, Shelby County.  Born March 12, 1942, he was the son of Lorena and T. J. Williams.  Mr. Richards was a veteran of US Army.  Survivors include wife, Joyce Richards of Friendswood; Daughter, Candice Schotz of Friendswood; Sisters, Tommie Williams of Kilgore and Judy Easley of Mt. Pleasant.
LENA MAE MCCOLLISTER POLLEY
     Lena Mae McCollister Polley, 58, died February 6, 2008.  Burial was in Carroll Cemetery.  Born May 29, 1949, she was the daughter of Sambo and Georgia McCollister.  She was married to Hilton Lee Polley, and he preceded her in death.  Survivors include Daughters, Aretha McCollister of Center and Stephanie Polley Windom of Nacogdoches; Sister, Polley Garret of Nacogdoches; Brother, Donnie Polley of Houston.  Community Funeral Home.
THOMAS MCDAVID HOOPER, SR.
       Thomas McDavid Hooper, Sr., 73, of Gary died March 5, 2008 in Gary.  Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Timpson.  Born October 9, 1934, in Timpson, he was the son of Robin L. and Emma L. Trammell Hooper.  Mr. Hooper was Teacher in Timpson.  He was preceded in death by his Parents; first wife, Barbara Hooper; Brother, Robin L. Hooper, Jr.  Survivors include Wife; Patricia Bailey Hooper, Sons, Thomas M. Hooper, Jr., Timothy W. Hooper, all of Gary, Tracy L. Hooper of Timpson; T. Z. Hooper of Gary; Stepson, Matthew B. Bowlin of Waxahachie; Stepdaughter, Brittany E. Bowlin of Austin; Sister, Mary A. Largent of Nacogdoches.  Taylor Funeral Home, Timpson.
