        The Price Cemetery has been designated as a Texas Historical Cemetery and you are invited to a celebration to acknowledge this accomplishment.  Please join us Saturday, April 1, all 11 a.m. at the cemetery (see directions below)  After the ceremony there will be a covered dish lunch at Lone Cedar Church.  Anyone who has family in the cemetery (see Price Cemetery Lone Cedar on this website) or who is interested in Shelby  County pioneers and history is invited to attend.  In case of bad weather, the ceremony will be held at Lone Cedar Church.  Contact mickimc2@sbcglobal.net with any questions. 
        (Take Highway 7 East from Center, Texas for about 8 miles to County Road 3082, turn right on County Road 3082, go past the Lone Cedar Church and continue to the end of the pavement.  County Road 3082 intersects County Road 3254 stay to the left  until County Road 3267, until you see the sign Price Cemetery, turn right and the Cemetery is about 500 yards from the road. )

OREN GLENN BOOTH
    Oren Glenn Booth, 29, of Center died March 13, 2006.  Burial was in St. John Cemetery.  Mr. Booth was born September 13, 1976, in Ennis, Texas.  He is a veteran of the U.S. Navy.  Survivors include sons, Jakari and Jakobe Booth of Virginia Beach, Virginia; wife, Carem of Arlington and Lea Gaylle Coney of Center; brothers, Rodney Patton of Center and Brinklin Booth of Houston; sister, Eboni Taylor of Houston.  Hicks Mortuary.
EDGAR HOOKER WARR
    Edgar Hooker Warr, 95, of Nacogdoches died March 24, 2006 in Nacogdoches.  Burial was in Mt. Herman Cemetery.  Born May 10, 1910, in Shelby County, he was the son of Mattie Fountain and Robert Lee Warr.  Mr. Warr was preceded in death by his sist4ers, Ledora Oliver, Ethel McSwain, Francis Luman, Essie Standfield, Effie Langford and Rene Warr; brothers, Tom Robert Earnest and Noah, who died in World War I. First wife Nellie May Bridwell War; daughter, Sarah Marie Warr Finn; Second wife, Mildred Kilgore Warr.  Survivors include sons, Royce Warr of Pineland and Dale Warr of San Augustine; daughters, Bernice Adams of Center and Jane Cupit of Nacogdoches; stepdaughters, Bettie Jo Washburn and Rudy Washburn, both of Nacogdoches, Doris June Childers of Wortham.  Laird Funeral Home.
BERNICE TAMPLIN PATE
    Bernice Tamplin Pate, 80, of Huxley died March 26, 2006.  Burial was in Wimberly-Rayburn Cemetery, Shelby County.   Born March 23, 1926, in Shelbyville, she was the daughter of Levi and Veriel Bailey Tamplin.  Mrs. Pate was married to J. E. Pate, and he preceded her in death.  Survivors include son Donald Wayne Pate of Orange; daughter, Julie Boese of Magnolia.  Watson & Sons Funeral Home.
EVA COYLE
    Eva Coyle, 82, of Center died March 26, 2006, in Shreveport, Louisiana.  Burial was in Oaklawn Memorial Park, Shelby County.   Born November 20, 1923, in Haskell, she was the daughter of Henry Melvin and Cora Ann Roman Veach.  Survivors include husband, W. R. "Dub" Coyle of Center; daughter, Ann Calzada of Poplarville, Mississippi; sons, J. B. "Ben" Coyle of Center and Keith Coyle of Gillette, Wyoming; sister, Ruby Pate of Center.  Watson & Sons Funeral Home.
MODENA PARKER MANSHACK
    Modena Parker Manshack, 87, of Center died March 27, 2006, in Houston.  Burial was in New Hope Cemetery, Shelby County.  Born September 22, 1918, in Shelby County, she was the daughter of Chester and Winnie Faulk Parker.  Mrs. Manshack was married to Melvin Manshack, and he preceded her in death.  Survivors include son James Manshack of Center; daughters, Helen Wilson and Cherry Jones.  Watson & Sons Funeral Home.
MARGUERITTE G. EHLEN STINSON
   Margueritte G. Ehlen Stinson, 88, of Gilchrist, Texas, died March 26, 2006, in Galveston, Texas.  Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Timpson, Texas.  Born March 19, 1918, in Amberg, Wisconsin, she was the daughter of George Fisque and Caroline Lear Frisque.  Mrs. Stinson was preceded in death by her first husband, John G. Ehlen and second husband William Stinson.  Survivors include sons, Roger Ehlen of Tyler, Dana Ehlen of Highlands Ranch, Colorado and Douglas Ehlen of Arlington, Indiana; daughter, Lorelei McKnight; stepson, Vernon Stinson and Stepdaughter, Louise McDuffy, all of Nacogdoches.  Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors.
NANCY PHILLIPS RHODES
    Nancy Phillips Rhodes, 67, of Tenaha died March 30, 2006 in Center.  Burial was in Old Home Cemetery.  Born May 29, 1938, in Joaquin, she was the daughter of Elmer and Jenny Stafford Phillips.  Mrs. Rhodes was a Homemaker.  Survivors include husband, Jerry Rhodes of Tenaha; daughter, Betty Cook of Center; brothers, Hollis Phillips and Delbert Phillips both of Louisiana; and Flora Rudd of Joaquin.  Taylor Funeral Home.
HERMAN ALEXANDER MCCALL, JR.
    Herman Alexander "Hap" McCall, Jr. of Tenaha died March 30, 2006.  Burial was in Old Union Cemetery, Shelby County.  Born September 25, 1933, in Shelby County, he was the son of H. A. and Adele Childs McCall.  Mr. McCall was a U. S. Army veteran, having served in Korean War.  Survivors include wife, Lorraine McCall of Tenaha; sons Howard McCall of Lockhart, Walter McCall of Big Spring and Herman McCall, III of Hallsville; daughter Lorraine Roark of Midland.  Mangum Funeral Home.
JAMES WALTER VERNER
   James Walter Verner, 95, died March 28, 2006 in Bryan.  Burial was in New Hope Cemetery, Shelby County.  Born in Stonewall County, he was the son of John Wesley Verner and Myrtie Beatrice Moore Verner.  Rev. Verner was preceded in death by his wife, Velma Vallie Davis.  Survivors include son James Kenneth Verner of Center; daughter Mary Frances Mitchell of Nacogdoches, Naomi Brimhall of Bryan, Martha Jane Anderton and Carolyn Wines of Lake Jackson.
