She was born on July 23, 1959 in Los Angeles, California to Clyde T. Smith and Etta Jo Cromwell Smith. Shelly was a dedicated police officer in Dayton, Texas for Liberty County. Her badge was actually the first woman’s badge in the Texas Rangers Hall of Fame. She was preceded in death by, Brother, Brodrick Eugene Bassham.
