SGM ARCHIE WILLIE HARTSFIELD
SGM Archie Willie (Pete) Hartsfield, 85, died June 01, 2021. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Nacogdoches, Texas. He was born on March 31, 1936 in Garrison, Texas to Cleo Patra Hartsfield Patton King. His youth was spent in Garrison, Texas where he was raised by his grandparents John and Rebecca Hartsfield. He graduated from Garrison, enlisting in the U.S. Army immediately following graduation. While serving in the military, he received many awards and accolades including the Legion of Merit, the highest peacetime medal awarded by the U.S. Army. During his years of service, Archie had various overseas assignments including Korea, Greenland, Germany, and Vietnam. His stateside assignments include Aiken, South Carolina, Homestead, Florida, San Francisco, California, and Ft. Bliss, Texas. He moved up the ranks over the years, eventually earning the Senior Non-Commissioned Rank of E-9 Sergeant Major before retiring from the military on March 30, 1984 after 30 years of service. He was preceded in death by, Wife, Bobbie S. Hartsfield; Son, Stanley Hartsfield; Mother, Cleo Patra Hartsfield Patton King; Sister, Georgia Matthews; Brothers, Taylor Patton, Jr., Maurell Patton, Floyd Patton.
