REMEMBER-----*
---If a male was the first person to enter your house on New Years day, most of your
little chickens will be hens. If a female was the first, most of your chicken will
be roosters.
---Never take out the ashes out of the fireplace or stove on Friday or Sunday and never
sweep out the house after sundown.
---Listen UP-- to ease the pain after child birth, place a pair of scissors under her bed,
it will cut the pains into.
---Cure for chicken pox-- cut off a black chicken's head and let the blood drip onto the
sores.
---Log rolling, Amen Corners, hog killings, candy pulling and Flying Jennys-- what are
Flying Jennys???
---Ring Plays (Josie Parties)----It was Square dancing without the music. Sang songs
like calling a set. Some parents would not let daughters square dance, but let them
play Ring Plays???
---Candy Drawings---A dance given by a boy at his house, the boy would buy sticks of
candy, usually peppermint. A boy would ask a girl for a dance, and after the dance,
he would pay the host boy a dime, and she would draw two sticks and they would eat the
candy.
