---Ring Plays (Josie Parties)----It was Square dancing without the music. Sang songs
like calling a set. Some parents would not let daughters square dance, but let them
play Ring Plays???
---Candy Drawings---A dance given by a boy at his house, the boy would buy sticks of
candy, usually peppermint. A boy would ask a girl for a dance, and after the dance,
he would pay the host boy a dime, and she would draw two sticks and they would eat the
candy.

The Annual Reunion and Memorial for the Newburn Cemetery will be held on June 28, 2003 from about 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. There will be dinner on the grounds. Everyone is invited to come and visit with all of us

The Wimberly Cemetery homecoming will be held June 15. Lunch will be served at 12 noon with the Shelby County Singers leading the singing in the afternoon. Donations will be taken for the upkeep of the cemetery. Everyone is invited to attend the annual event.

| AARON AMMONS Aaron Ammons, 21, of Center died June 6, 2003 in Shelby County. Burial was in Mt. Herman Cemetery. Born January 30, 1982, in Guymon, Oklahoma, he was the son of Mitchell and Marcia Mitchell Ammons. Mr. Ammons is survived by his parents Michell and Marcia Ammons; wife, Amy Ammons, of Center; and daughter, Haleigh Wethington of Center. Watson & Sons Funeral Home. |
| ZULA MCCAULEY Zula McCauley, 89, of Center died June 5, 2003 in Charleston, West Virginia. Burial was in Oaklawn Memorial Park, Shelby County. Born January 23, 1914, in Center, she was married to Audary McCauley, and he preceded her in death. Ms. McCauley is survived by her son, J.W. | CARRIE MAY LYNCH Carrie May Lynch, 90, died June 5, 2003. Burial was in Folsum Chapel Cemetery. Born July 21, 1912, in Newton, she was the daughter of Dave Washington and Emma Josephine Leonard. Mrs. Lynch was preceded in death by her husband Jim Lou Parnell and husband James William Lynch; and five children; brothers, Henry, Leroy and Frank Leonard; sisters, Ludie Hardy and Gussie Johnson.
