November 11, 2018 will be the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I. With
the help of Mr. Larry Hume, the Shelby County Museum has a display honoring all
Shelby County Soldiers involved in the war. We will have an open house from 1 -
4:00 P. M. on June 29, 2018 and invite everyone to come to see this tribute.

CARL EMERSON Carl “Old Timer” Emerson, 68, of Logansport, Louisiana, died June 15, 2018, in Logansport. Interment was in O. E. Price Cemetery, Logansport. He was born February 14, 1950, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to Dudleigh Welton Emerson and Lois Clara Smith Emerson. He served his country in the United States Navy and the United States Army National Guard. He was preceded in death by, Parents; Daughter-in-law, Bernice Emerson; Sister, Johnnie Brown; Brother-in-law, O. J. Sonny Brown. WEATHERFORD Rodney Odean Weatherford, 72, of Nacogdoches, Texas, died June 16, 2018 in Nacogdoches, Texas. Interment was in Blair Cemetery, Shelby County. He was born April 12, 1946, in Bakersville, California, to Gerritos Ottis and Dora Fusion Weatherford. He was preceded in death by his parents. JIMMY E. OATES Jimmy E. Oates, 73, died June 17, 2018. Interment was in Rather Cemetery, Shelby County. He was born to Jessie E. and Vashti Ross Oates on June 8, 1945 in the Dreka Community of Shelby County. He was preceded in death by his parents.
