CENTER HIGH SCHOOL HOMECOMING EVENTS
SEPTEMBER 10TH - 11TH, 2004

Football game at Roughrider Stadium Friday, September 10, 2004,7:30PM

Alumni meeting will be held at the Center Middle School Cafetorium (known as old High School) on Malone Drive on September 11th at 9:00AM

Homecoming parade will begin at 4:00PM on September 11, 2004. 

Class of 1929 will meet at the Golden Corral on Saturday September 11th for a Dutch-treat meal and entertainment.

Classes of 1947, 1948, 1949 and 1950 will meet for lunch at Lee's Kitchen (Lake Country Inn) on Saturday September 11, 2004 at 12 Noon.

Class of 1956 will meet for lunch at Pickles and Petunias Eatery, 510 Shelbyville Street Saturday, September 11th.

Class of 1964 will meet at the Pine Colony Inn, 500 Shelbyville St. on Saturday September 11th.

Class of 1974 will meet Saturday and have a pre-parade lunch at 2PM at Kathy Bowlin Thomas' house. At 7:00PM will party at the JOI Ranch on Saturday night.  Email screlia@centerisd.org

Class of 1989 will meet at the Lamar School building on Don Wheeler Farm on September 11, 2004 at 7 PM

 


Descendants of George W. Bowlin and Alice Bussey will meet for their annual reunion on Saturday, August 7, 2004 (corrected date), at Texas State Bank on Highway 59 in Timpson. This is a new location for the reunion-out of the heat.
George and Alice married January 31, 1884 in Shelby County and lived in the Buena Vista Community. They had 13 children. Many grew up, married and raised families in the area. George and Alice’s grandchildren are the oldest generation living today. They and their descendants and extended families are invited to gather any time after 10 a.m. There will be lots of visitation and a covered dish lunch at noon.

Obituaries
LEO NAOMI WILLIAMS RUSHING
   Leo Naomi Williams Rushing, 94, died July 30, 2004, in Beaumont.  Burial was in Joaquin Cemetery.  She was born November 10, 1909.  Mrs. Rushing was a teacher in Joaquin and a member of Eastern Star and Delta Kappa Gamma.  She was married to Randolph Rushing and he preceded her in death.  Survivors include daughters, Margaret Ann Rushing Smith of Groves and Mary Elizabeth Rushing John of Beaumont.  Mangum Funeral Home.
HERMAN L. STEPHENS
   Herman L. Stephens, 86, of Timpson died July 29, 2004 in Nacogdoches.  Burial was in Timpson Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.  Born November 13, 1917, in Fostoria, he was the son of Ivan and Nora Miller Stephens.  He was retired from Houston Police Department as a Sergeant and was a member of Timpson Masonic Lodge.  Mr. Stephens was married first to Lillian Schwarts Stephens and she preceded him in death.  Survivors include his wife, Nancy Stephens of Timpson; son, Andy Ray Stephens of Garrison; daughters, Donna Stephens of Longview and Kathi Townes and Emily Jordan, both of Timpson; brother, Harold Stephens of Willis; sisters, Juanita Bewley of Round Rock and Betty Jo Baltimore of Baytown.  Taylor Funeral Home.
SALLIE W. ADAMS
   Sallie W. Adams, 99, of Center died July 30, 2004 in Center.  Burial was in Coldspring Cemetery, Garrison.  Born July 17, 1905, in Shelby County, she was the daughter of Ed Warren and Harriet Crump Warren.  Mrs. Adams was a homemaker and married to Clyde Adams and he and her son, Jackson Adams, precede her in death.  Survivors include, daughter, Sarah Louise Adams of Shreveport, Louisiana; sisters, Helen Muckleroy of Center and edit Franks of Stockman Community.  Watson & Sons Funeral Home.
JAMES FRANKLIN WALKER
   James Franklin Walker, 86, of Center died August 1, 2004 in Center.  Burial was in Greenlawn Memorial, Natchez, Mississippi.  Born April 5, 1918, in Union Parish Louisiana, he was the son of James Alexander and Ruthie Irene Carter Walker.  Mr. Walker was retired from Chevron.  Survivors include wife, Sybil Walker of Center; daughter, Gladys Giddens of Mount Pleasant; son, Danny Walker of Houston; brother, Doug Walker of West Monroe, Louisiana.  Mangum Funeral Home.
LUCRETIA CHADWICK ESSERY
   Lucretia Chadwick Essery, 49, of Lake Wales, Florida died August 1, 2004 in Winter Haven, Florida.  Burial was in Corinth Cemetery, Timpson.  Born April 11, 1955, she was the daughter of Walter C. and Nadine Keathing Chadwick.  Survivors include husband, Mark Essery of Lake Wales; daughters, Melissa Donahue of Haines City, Florida and Kimberly Smith of Lake Wales; son, Steven Essery of Lake Wales; father, Walter Chadwick of Timpson; brothers, Michael Chadwick and Jonathan Chadwick, both of Timpson and Andy Chadwick of Gary; sister, Patricia Chadwick Maddox of Gilmer.  Taylor Funeral Home.
IRIS TAYLOR
   Iris Taylor, 89, of Shelbyville died August 3, 2004 in Shelbyville.  Burial was in West Hamilton Cemetery.  Born August 28, 1914, in Shelby County, she was the daughter of Eddie and Ona Brown Watson.  Mrs. Taylor was retired from Levy's Department Store in Houston.  Survivors include daughters, Earlene Pugh of Lake Jackson, Olivia Deaton of Lufkin and Linda Hanna of Smithville; sisters, Verna Hull of Magnolia, Aubrey Taylor of Center and Ruth Auberry of Montgomery.  Watson & Sons Funeral Home.
GLYNN DAN RAMSEY
   Glynn Dan Ramsey, 64, of Timpson  died August 4, 2004 in Dallas.  Burial was in Blair Cemetery, Timpson.  Born August 29, 1939, in Shady Grove Community, he was the son of Earnest B. and Kathleen Dunaway Ramsey.  He was retired from Texas Utilities.  Survivors include his wife, Yvonne Burgan Ramsey of Timpson; daughters, Robin Hooper and Penny Ramsey Reed, both of Timpson; sisters, Earnestine Walker of Anahuac and Alice Riddlehoover of Carthage.  Taylor Funeral Home.
WILLIAM COCKRELL
   William Cockrell, 65, of Bossier City, Louisiana, died August 1, 2004.  Burial was Sholar Cemetery, Shelby County.  Born June 7, 1939, in Shelby County, he was the son of Marion and Iva Harris Cockrell.  Mr. Cockrell was preceded in death by his father, Marion Cockrell.  Survivors include his mother, Iva Cockrell of Bossier City, Louisiana, wife, Inez Wiley Cockrell of Bossier City; daughters, Doris Weninegar of Kentucky, Edie Wheeler of Grand Cane, Louisiana, Carllene Villareal of Saginaw, Michigan, Connie Owens of Bossier City, Laura Elizabeth Cockrell Colvin and Cathy Lafitte of Shreveport.  Mangum Funeral Home.
