The Shelby County Historical Society will hold its monthly meeting September 19, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. in the Shelby County Museum on Pecan Street. Our guest speaker this month will be Colleen Doggett. She will speak to us about the Early Century Ferry Landings on the Sabine River. Everyone is invited to attend.

LEONARD C. HUGHES Leonard C. Hughes, 73, of Timpson, Texas, died August 17, 2017 in Carthage. Interment was in Mt. Olive Cemetery, Shelby County. He was born on December 23, 1943 in the Waterman Community of Shelby County to Robert Cleave Hughes and Gertie Dee Renfro. He attended Timpson High School, graduating class of 1962. He served his country in the United States Army. He was preceded in death by, Parents; Brother, Robert Ray Hughes.
