GORDON OLIVER Gordon Oliver, 85, died at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in the presence of his loving wife and daughters. Interment will be in Forest Park Cemetery, Houston, Texas. Gordon was born in Timpson, Texas to Riley B. Oliver and Bessie Whitley Oliver. He graduated from Timpson High School and then served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. JAMES HAROLD EMMONS James Harold Emmons, 70, died October 17, 2016. A memorial service will be held on October 22, 2016 at East Texas Baptist Family Ministry following the Poissoit-Emmons family reunion. James Harold Emmons was born on October 20, 1945 to Richard Irvin Emmons and Bertha Catherine Poissoit Emmons in Center, Texas. He served his country in the U. S. Army. JACKIE NELSON CANNON Jackie Nelson Cannon, 79, of Troup, formerly of Shelbyville, died October 16, 2016 in Whitehouse. Interment was in Oaklawn Memorial Park, Center, Texas. He was born September 4, 1937, in Shelbyville, to Jack Cannon and Odell Fittz Cannon. He graduated from Shelbyville ISD, where he was very involved in athletics. He went on to earn his Master’s Degree at Stephen F. Austin University. While attending Stephen F. Austin, he played four years of college football. After graduation, Mr. Cannon returned to his High School Alma Mater, Shelbyville ISD. There, he led the Dragons in eleven undefeated games before being defeated in the State Playoff. Many of those players are still local. He was preceded in death by, Wife, Joann Howard Cannon; Son, Chris Cannon; Father, Jack Cannon.
