The Champion is desirous that
Judge Perkins should resign. For some cause it appears that he
is not attentive to his duties, if the following statement taken
from the East Texas Progress is correct: Judge Perkins adjourned court Thursday and left Wednesday, the 25th inst?. About half the business of the Term was disposed of. There were several cases in which both sides were ready for trial, but were continued by the Judge, without explanation except that he wished to adjouned court. Considerable dissatisfaction is expressed by the people with this action. The court had two weeks longer in the term and the people seem to think when a judge is paid $8 per day, he should stay at his post of duty until the docket is cleared or the term exhausted The Champion March 1890 |
