Sample Family 1900

L-R: Baby, Dura Sample, born 10-1899; Mary Francis Rogers Sample, Lula Wiggins (not related), Martha Ann Branch Sample, James Bedford Sample, William Robert Sample and Memee Sample.

    James Bedford came to Texas with his Parents, John and Sarah Ann Butler Sample in April of 1838 and settled on 97 acres of land that was granted for a Class 3 Headright Certificate #87.  They lived on the land until the death of John in 1847 and Sarah's death in 1878. Both John and Sarah were Buried on the Homeplace and this burial site later became known as the Sample Cemetery.  The Sample Cemetery was designated as a Historical Cemetery in 2006.
