Constable Tom Myers - Tenaha
Tom Myers was born May 1, 1912,
to R. T. Myers and Mollie Hooper Myers in Shelby County. He attended
school in Paxton and loved to play basketball. He owned a store in Paxton
and later moved to LaPorte, Texas, where he owned his own business. He
moved back to Tenaha around 1951 and owned a service station and drove a school
bus and later becoming Constable of Tenaha. He was serving his second term
when he died on September 14, 1972. He served under Sheriff Leon
Schillings and Maxie Eaves.
He originally married Alpha Oates of
Tenaha and they had two children, Peggy Langley of DeQuincy, Louisiana and Pat
Crump of Joaquin, Texas. Later he married Minnie Wilburn Stewart, who had
two sons, Donald Stewart of Huxley and Arthur "Skeeter" Stewart of Tenaha
