Ranger John Mahlon Hoyt

John Mahlon Hoyt was born September 22, 1925. He married Billie Dice Johnson May
22, 1946. John worked in 1951 as a Deputy under Shelby County Sheriff Earl Adams
for one term. While working for Sheriff Adams he joined the Liquor Control Board
as an employee and eventually worked Shelby County.
John became a Texas Ranger and was assigned to Company” A “Ranger Headquarters
in Houston and worked twenty-six months never serving Shelby County as a Ranger.
Later he was elected Sheriff of San Augustine County.
