A.  GEORGE WASHINGTON PERMENTER, son of Gray and Mary Permenter, was born May 25, 1847 in Lauderdale County, Mississippi.  He married SALLY DAW on August 18, 1871 in Webster Parish, Louisiana.   She was born in 1856 in Louisiana, the daughter of Thomas Daw and Nancy Smith Wilson Daw.  Thomas Daw served time in the Civil War.  He was stationed in one of the Virginias, where he contracted Tuberculosis.  Because of poor health, he was sent home.  He was given a horse to ride.  At nightfall, Thomas would stop at a farm house and ask for lodging.   He was never refused.  He was given an evening meal, a bed, breakfast and a packed lunch for the day.  When his horse tied out, he was given a fresh house by the farmer.  His journey home took ninety days.  On arriving home he called Nancy to come and help him dismount from his horse, as he didn't have strength to do it alone.   Thomas never discharged from the army and was required to work.  He built a workshop and made shoes for the soldiers.  When he no longer able to make shoes, nancy made them.  At Thomas' death, Nancy was given a pension of $25.00 a month for the remainder of her life.  That amount of money was adequate for a good life and she was never again in need.  Thomas was buried near Minden, Louisiana.  Nancy moved to Texas an is buried in Wikmberly Cemetery in Huxley Community in Shelby County.  George Washington Permenter served in the Confederate States Army in the Louisiana Volunteers Company E, 27th Regiment from 1864 through 1865.  George applied for Confederate Pension on September 28, 1907 but the application was denied.  Again, on August 31, 1910 he applied and was approved for a Confederate Pension.   Sally Daw Permenter died October 11, 1899.  George died on December 28, 1921.  Both are buried in Wimberly-Rayburn Cemetery, Shelby County, Texas.

2.  THOMAS G.  PERMENTER,  second child  of George and Sally Daw Permenter, was born February 1, 1874 in Louisiana.  He married LECY O.   SAMPLE on October 11, 1895 in Shelby County, Texas.  She was born July 16, 1878 in Shelby County, Texas.  Lecy died on June 11, 1960 in Shelby County, Texas.  Thomas died on December 18, 1950 in Shelby County, Texas.  Both are buried in Wimberly-Rayburn Cemetery, Shelby County, Texas.

The children of Tom and Lecy Permenter:

a.  ROBERT W. PERMENTER, first child of Tom and Lecy Permenter, was born December 24, 1898.  He married IDA METCALF.  To this union one child was born and died at birth on March 18, 1930.  Ida died on March 3, 1956.  Robert died on October 11, 1952.

b.  ALVIN PERMENTER, second child of Tom and Lecy Permenter, was born in December 11, 1901.  He died February 27, 1962.

c.  VERA PERMENTER, third child of Tom and Lecy Permenter, was born October 11, 1904 in Texas. She married JAMES T. FURLOW on November 21, 1923 in Shelby County Texas.  James was born May 31, 1904 and died March 15, 1997.  Vera died on September 1, 1978.  Both are buried in Wimberly-Rayburn Cemetery, Shelby County, Texas.

d. ORAN I. PERMENTER, fourth child of Tom and Lecy Permenter, was born on September 2, 1907 in  Texas.   He married MYRTLE N. (last name unknown).   She was born April 16, 1910.  Oran died in 1975 and is buried in Converse Cemetery, Sabine Parish, Louisiana.

e.  FLOICE T. PERMENTER, fifth child of Tom and Lecy Permenter, was born in May 16, 1909 in Houston, Harris County, Texas.  He married ELOISE BELSHA on November 26, 1930 in Shelby County, Texas.  Eloise was born August 17, 1910 and died May 11, 1968.  Floice died on May 16, February 25, 1985.  Both are buried in Strong Cemetery, Shelby County, Texas.

f.  LAMERLE PERMENTER, sixth child of Tom and Lecy Permenter, was born in 1916 in Texas. 

g.  LEMARLIN PERMENTER, seventh child of Tom and Lecy Permenter, was born in September  7, 1918 in Shelby County, Texas.  She married first EUAL FURLOW.   She died June 11, 1968 and buried in Wimberly-Rayburn Cemetery, Shelby County, Texas. 

3.  JESSIE EXELL PERMENTER, third child of George and Sally Daw Permenter, was born February 6, 1876 in Texas.  He married LUCY GERTRUDE MILLER.  She was born November 7, 1875.  Lucy died on December 8, 1940 in Shelby County, Texas.   Jesse died on May 11, 1926.  Both are buried in Wimberly-Rayburn Cemetery, Shelby County, Texas.

The children of Jessie and Lucy Miller Permenter:

a.  JEWEL PERMENTER, first child of Jessie and Lucy Permenter, was born July 23, 1900 in Texas.  He married ARAH BELLE GREEN on November 15, 1921 in Shelby County, Texas.  She was born July 26, 1901 in Texas.  She died on December 7, 1972 in Shelby County, Texas.  Jewel died on December 27, 1973 in Center, Shelby County, Texas.

The children of Jewel and Arah Permenter:

1)  SMITH JEWEL PERMENTER, first child of Jewel and Arah, was born August 7, 1924 in Shelbyville, Texas.  He married EDGEL MAY on June 2, 1946 in Center, Texas.  He served in the U.S. Army Air Force and was Superintendent of the Joaquin Independent School District and Leggett in Polk County, Texas.  Edgel taught school for 37 years in various school district in Texas.  Smith died on August 7, 1995 and is buried in Wimberly-Rayburn Cemetery, Shelby County, Texas.

a)  SEAN D. PERMENTER, first child of Smith and Edgel Permenter, was born August 28, 1947 in Shreveport, Louisiana.   He married first NARA HALEY on October 28, 1968.  She was born August 12, 1949.  Nara was killed in killed in an accident on January 17, 1970 and is buried in Oaklawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Shelby County, Texas.  Sean married second time KATHY HAUK in Memphis, Tennessee in 1972.   To this union AMIE JANE PERMENTER was born in 1973.  They were divorced.   Sean married third time JOYCE ANN BLACK.  To this union ERIC SMITH PERMENTER was born October 3, 1989 in Center, Texas. 

c)  STEVEN SMTIH PERMENTER, third child of Smith and Edgel Permenter, was born November, 27, 1954 in Baytown, Texas.  He married SANDRA LYNN ROGERS in Joaquin, Texas in March 16, 1973.  To this union SHANNON SMITH PERMENTER was born on September 3, 1974 in Shreveport, Louisiana and STEVEN CODY PERMENTER was born January 19, 1979 in Terrebonne Parish, Louisiana.

d)  DEBORAH JEWEL PERMENTER, fourth child of Smith and Edgel Permenter, was born March 23, 1956 in Baytown, Texas.   She married  BILLY WAYNE ANDERSON on June 7, 1974 in Center, Texas.  To this union CARI ALLENE ANDERSON was born September 7, 1976 and ANGELA BETH ANDERSON was born December 7, 1979.

2) BILLY JACK PERMENTER, second child of Jewel an Arah Permenter, was born November 29, 1929 He died on October 1, 1940 as a result of a baseball accident at Ballard School, Shelby County, Texas and is buried in Wimberly-Rayburn Cemetery, Shelby County, Texas.

3)  SANDRA LEE PERMENTER, third child of Jewel and Arah Permenter, was born April 17, 1940.  She married JEFF EDWARD MOODY on September 10, 1958.  He was born June 29, 1939 in Center, Texas.

b.  AVIS PERMENTER, second child of Jessie and Lecy Permenter, was born April 21, 1902.  She married WILLIAM BURTIS VAUGHN.  He died on May 14, 1972 and Avis died April 8, 1990.  To this union no children were born.  Both are buried in Wimberly-Rayburn Cemetery, Shelby County, Texas

c.  RACHEL PERMENTER, third child of Jessie and Lecy Permenter, was born in 1906 in Texas.  She married DANIEL CHANDLER.  To this union CHARLES CHANDLER was born..

d.  ALMA PERMENTER, fourth child of Jessie and Lucy Permenter, was born in 1912 in Texas.  She married LATH Holt.

4.  CALVIN LAFAYETTE PERMENTER, fourth child of George and Sally Daw Permenter, was born June 25, 1878 in Texas.  He married CEALIA ALMEDA METCALF ca 1902.  She was born September 9, 1884 in Shelby County, Texas and was  the daughter of ELISHA and MATTIE MCCARTER METCALF.  Cealia died November 15, 1969 in Dallas, Texas.  Her burial place is unknown.  Calvin died on October 17, 1921 and is buried in Wimberly-Rayburn Cemetery, Shelby County, Texas.

a.  WAYMON PERMENTER, first child of Calvin and Cealia Permenter, was born August 26, 1903 in Shelby County, Texas.  He died on October 11, 1905 and is buried in Wimberly-Rayburn Cemetery, Shelby County, Texas.

b.  MAMIE SMITH PERMENTER, second child of Calvin and Cealia Permenter, was born March 24, 1906 in Shelby County, Texas.  She married JAMES TRUITT BAILEY on November 13, 1926 in Shelby County, Texas.  He was born November 22, 1892 and died on September 20, 1967.  Mamie died on February 24, 1989.  Both are buried in Wimberly-Rayburn Cemetery, Shelby County, Texas.

1)  SHIRLEY PERMENTER, first child of Wiley and Rosie Permenter, was born ca 1932.  She married JOSEPH AUSTIN.

5.  PHOEBE O. PERMENTER, fifth child of George and Sally Permenter, was born August 27, 1880.   She married THOMAS W. WIMBERLY.  He was born December 5, 1877 and died February 24, 1954.  Phoebe died October 29, 1960.   Both are buried in Wimberly-Rayburn Cemetery, Shelby County, Texas.

6.  ALBERT G. PERMENTER, sixth child of George and Sally Permenter, was born March 11, 1883 in Texas.  He married FLORA FLEMING ca 1903.   She was born November 17, 1886 in Texas.  Albert died on March 16, 1926.  Albert is buried in Wimberly-Rayburn Cemetery, Shelby County, Texas.

b.   DOIL PERMENTER,  second child of Albert and Flora Permenter, was born October 5, 1914.  He died on December 13, 1921 and is buried in Wimberly-Rayburn Cemetery, Shelby County, Texas.

c.  JAMES CLINTON PERMENTER, third child of Albert and Flora Permenter, was born in November 11, 1919.  He married MARIE HUGGINS of Brownwood, Texas.    To this union MICHAEL PERMENTER was adopted.  J.C. died in February, 1974 in Midlothian, Texas and is buried in Bangs, Texas.

7.  UDORA E. PERMENTER, seventh child of George and Sally Permenter, was born in October, 17 1885. She married HOUSTON SAMPLES in Shelby County, Texas. 

8.  ELISHA JAMES PERMENTER, eighth child of George and Sally Permenter, was born May 11, 1892.  He married BEULAH GLAZE on December 12, 1912 in Shelby County, Texas.  He died from an accidental gun shot wound on November 25, 1918 and is buried in Wimberly-Rayburn Cemetery, Shelby County, Texas.

9.  WENDELL S. PERMENTER, ninth child of George and Sally Permenter, was born October 3, 1894 in Texas.  He married BLANCHE HUGHES on August 17, 1919 in Shelby County, Texas.  She was born on April 11, 1900 and died on August 7, 1926.  

The children of Wendell and Blanche Permenter:

Wendell married second time FLORA FLEMING on May 2, 1927 in Shelby County, Texas.  To this union  WENDELL SMITH PERMENTER, JR. was born.  Flora died in Nacogdoches County.  Wendell died on May 8, 1973. Both are buried in Wimberly-Rayburn Cemetery, Shelby County, Texas

a.  BERTHA PERMENTER, first child of Wendell and Blanche Permenter, was born September 9, 1920. She married L. C. LAWRENCE.  He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.  He was a retired school teacher.  To this union JUDITH EXALLE LAWRENCE was born July 28, 1943.   He was born January 6, 1919 and died January 20, 1986 and is buried in Wimberly-Rayburn Cemetery, Shelby County, Texas.        

b.  MAXINE PERMENTER, second child of Wendell and Blanche Permenter, was born January 12, 1922.  She married LEONELL SCARBOROUGH.  Leonell died in 1979.

c.  MOZELL PERMENTER, third child of Wendell and Blanche Permenter, was born February 9, 1923.  She married WILLIAM ENCIL "SHORTY" MUCKLEROY.
