1929 Ashton School

Shelby County Texas


        Star Springs was an adjoining community to Ashton Community.  The church and school building burned in the 1890's and the School was consolidated with Ashton in 1893 to form School District #68. 
Teachers in 1910-11: Ada Windham, J.I. Wallace.  
Teachers in 1911-12:  Bessie Brook, Edgar Carter, James Latham.
Teachers in 1912-13:  Myrtle Boozer, James Latham, 63 pupils.
May 16, 1916, Ashton #68 and Pleasant Hill (also known as Pull Tight) #18 was consolidated and named Ashton #90.  Ashton #90 was consolidated with Joaquin in 1941.
