Andrew Gibson, a gasoline foreman for the Tol T Smith Garage, is nursing a broken arm this week, the result of cranking a Ford.

Miss Trudie Nicholson has gone to Nacogdoches where she will teach the third grade in the grammar school. Miss Nicholson is an experienced teacher and one that always makes good with her students.

Earl Alford has arrived home from the Navy service, he having been discharged. He is the son of Ben Alford.

A very pretty wedding occurred on Sunday afternoon, September 38 at the home of the Christian minister, Elder AC Babcock of this city. The contracting parties being Mr. Harry Haden and Miss Ruth Miller of Haslam, Texas.

In the district court at Carthage, the cases known as the Lovell Cases have been set for trial for October 8. This case was transferred from this county and all witnesses in this county should take notice of the setting of the case.

Friends of JJ Beckham have made up a purse to pay his way to the Confederate reunion at Atlanta. Mr. Beckham is very thankful to those who contributed to his pleasures and requests the Champion to express his appreciation through the paper. He says that he will never forget kindness and hopes that his friends will accept his appreciation as he extends them.

Noble Weaver returned Friday from a business trip to Pickering, LA and other points and left again Sunday afternoon to accompany his daughter, Miss Lucille, to Kerrville where she will enter the Schofield College, a college from girls only.

Miss Winnie Barnett arrived here Sunday afternoon and resumed her duties at the post office. She has been on a 2 months’ vacation spending the time with her sister, Mrs. Daniel Walker, in New Mexico and Colorado.

JJ Beckham, JH Elliot and wife, EJ Carriker and wife, Mesdames HJ and JH Carriker left this morning for Atlanta to attend the Confederate reunion. Others will go tomorrow and later in the week. The reunion proper does not begin until about the 8th of this month and these people will visit other places before going there.

Dr. ES Carroll and Ben Pierce have received official notification from Gov. Hobby of their appointment as delegates to the World Cotton Conference at New Orleans next week. This conference on the cotton situation is going to be the biggest thing that has been held in this country in a long time. The conference will ratify the minimum price that has already been fixed, and which is graduated by the different months and expect to arrange to finance the cotton crop and make it possible for the securing these prices.

Note: The museum has been setting up the new exhibit “Art” the couple of weeks. A special “Thank You” to everyone who help with this newest exhibits.  An open house is scheduled for Thursday, July 10th from 1 – 4 pm.  Come out and see what’s new at the museum.
