        This company became Company E, 3rd Regiment Texas Calvary, and was reorganized in May 1862.  It was also known as the South Kansas Texas Regiment of Cavalry and the South Kansas Regiment of Mounted Volunteers.

The following  is transcribed from a hand written document by D. M. Short


By virtue of a requisition made upon me by ? L. F. Casey, Acting as agent of Major S. Hart, 2n Mc?? C.S. A. for the purchase of supplies and cotton for the C.S. Government predicated upon ??? order (No. 29) dated February 19th 1863 issued by Major General MacGruder requiring 8 enrolling officers to detail conscripts for certain purpose- the undersigned have this date detailed the following persons as teamsters for the transportation all of whom where mustered into the service of the confederate service on this 8th day of June 1863 except Jacob Elliott who was sworn into the service on the 25th of May 1863. John A. Burrow on the 11th of May 1863.
