FRANCES (FRAN) McKAY MOOSBERG

PERSONAL HISTORY FOR THE LAST 40 YEARS:

I married John Berry Moosberg, Class of 55, graduate of Texas A&M, my junior year in college.  After graduating from Texas Woman's University with a BS, RN, we lived in Ft. Sill, OK, New Jersey, Tulsa, OK, Chicago, New York City and Spring, Texas.  Berry worked for Exxon and they moved us around a lot.   As you can probably guess, I like Texas the best.

Berry and I had two children, Paige and Jill.

Paige and her husband Michael graduated from Texas A&M, both are CPA's.  They live in Rock Hill, SC, with their three lovely, energetic children:  Katie 5, Brendan 3, and Mary Shannon 16 months.

Jill graduated from the University of Texas with a Finance and Marketing degree.  Jill and her husband, Stephen, live in Fort Worth.   Stephen is a lawyer and they have a wonderful little boy Blake, almost 2, and a new baby on the way.

Both girls live in older homes, like antiques, and feel themselves fortunate to be able to be full time "Moms."

After Berry and I divorced, I worked as a school nurse for the LaMarque Independent School District for 16 years.  In the last few years, I began working on a log home at Lake Murvaul and had an antique business.   Berry passed away in November, 1992.

In September, 1996, I retired and moved to Lake Murvaul.  I love being on the lake and not having to go to work every day!  I like to fish, garden, and travel.  I am excited about beginning what seems to be the fourth phase of my life.

LYNN W. MENA

JEANETTE McSWAIN MENA  '61

Personal History for the Last 40 years:

After graduating from High School, I went to Houston and was employed by Encyclopedia Brittannica from 1956 to 1959.   In September of 1959, Uncle Sam requested by services for the U.S. Army (1959-1961.)

Backing up to 1959, I met Jeanette McSwain of Center (Class of 1961.)  We were married in June of 1960.   We have three children - Samuel David, Sheila Lynne, and Kimberly Kaye.

Our son, Samuel, has two sons -Jonathan David (12 yrs. old,) and Joseph David (11 yrs. old.)  Our daughter, Sheila, has a son - Michael Lynn (12 yrs. old) and a daughter - Amber Nicole (8 yrs. old.)   Our youngest daughter, Kimberly, is not yet married.

After getting out of the Army in 1961, Jeanette and I returned to Houston.  I worked with several different companies until January, 1964.  At that time I was employed by Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co., and worked with Goodyear as a production supervisor until taking early retirement, effective May 1, 1995, with 31 years of service.  Here is an interesting note about Goodyear:  Most people think of Goodyear as a tire maker and the Goodyear Blimp.  Our company did not only make raw synthetic rubber for tires, but a synthetic bas for chewing gum.  Yes, Goodyear capitalizes on 90% of the world's market for the chewing gum rubber base.

My wife, Jeanette, is a registered nurse and has a B.S. degree from the University of Texas.  She is employed by Memorial Hospital System in Houston, and has 20 years of service.  Jeanette expects to retire within the next 3 or 4 years.

I like hunting and fishing, and Jeanette only enjoys the fishing.  We both have lots of fun with our children and grandchildren.  We spend a great deal of time on Sam Rayburn Lake, as we have a home at the lake, as well as our home in Houston.  We both have family in Center, with whom we often visit.

It's hard to believe for-years have gone by and how we all have journeyed through life in our own way since we graduated in 1956.  May the Good Lord bless all of you and me with the Gift of the Holy Spirit.

SALLY JO MENEFEE STIERNBERG

Personal History for the Last 40 years:

Where has the time gone?   It's forty plus one year for me.  Some of you may remember that I departed Center High School a year early.  Why, I still do not know.

When thinking about the past forty plus years, I realize that I've now written a best seller, nor climbed the corporate ladder, achieved a public office nor completed a thirty-three year teaching career like my mother.  However, for me these years have been full, happy and I would not change any of it.

I attended Texas Women's University after graduation from Center High and graduated from Stephen F. Austin in 1959 with a degree in speech.  I taught school in Alvin for two years.  While teaching, I met my husband, Douglas Stiernberg.  We have been married 35 years and lived in Texas City the entire time.  He is a medical doctor and is still practicing.

We have two children--Amy is 33 and mike is 31.  Amy is married to Greg Jordan and lives in Austin.  Mike is moving to Midland to practice law.  He is not married yet.  Amy and Greg have one child, Emily Ann, born February 16, 1996.

I still love to visit Center because of so may wonderful memories.  All of you are part of my past, which I treasure.  I look forward to our celebration of our forty year anniversary!

JIMMIE LOUISE NAIL BOLES

Personal History for the Last 40 years:

DEAR CLASSMATES OF '56:

I accomplished a lot in 1956---graduated, finished business school, got my first job and got married that year.  In a way, it seems like yesterday; but here we are celebrating our 40th Class Reunion.

After 22 years of marriage, our lives took different paths.  And in 1979, I started working part time at Windham's Home Furnishings for John and Barbara Windham, where you will still find me today.

I have two lovely daughters---Sheila, who works for the Department of Human Resources, and Lisa, who is on the Board of Directors of Shelby Savings Bank.  A grandson, Joshua, who is entering the first year of Junior High; a granddaughter, Amanda, who is a senior this year.  I feel lucky that we all still live in Center.

I have been blessed by good family, good friends and good life.

But I don't feel older than when we graduated forty years ago!  Do you?-------

DOUG PATE

Cathy & I have been married for five years.  She is currently a flight attendant for Delta.

Looking forward to seeing everyone in October.

LEE GAYLE PAYNE LUNSFORD

CHUCK LUNSFORD  '51

Personal History for the Last 40 years:

DEAR FELLOW CLASSMATES OF 1956:

Why I thought I had to graduate at mid-term of my senior year, I do not know, and miss out on our senior class activities.  My thoughts were on the future, I guess, and Carolyn Campbell and I did enjoy some good times at Kilgore Jr. College.

From there I went to Dallas to SMU until I left the summer of 1958, having married Chuck Lunsford.  I was out of school for a year while Chuck and I moved to New Orleans and then to San Antonio.  I graduated from Trinity Univ. in 1960 and taught second grade there, in N.E. Independent School District.

We lived in Center for one year and I taught the first special education class in the school system here.  Chuck then joined the FBI and we were really off and away from everything familiar.

Our first office was Portland, Oregon.  I traveled up there with every coat I owned and found out that the weather was really not so cold.  It just rained some very day, which made the flowers and the whole area so pretty.  Next was a move to Salt Lake City, Utah, another beautiful city.  Daughter, Susan, was born there in 1963.

Washington, D.C. area was our home after those years for some sixteen years.  Charlie '65, Monty '67, and Mary '69, were all born in Virginia.  We actually told them that they were really Texans at heart.  In fact, we brain washed them more than we know.  A neighbor related that one of our children told her, "Yes, we are going home to Texas where be belong."

Kingwood, Texas, north of Houston, became our home for the next sixteen years.  While there, I worked in Real Estate.  And the word "Work" is not used lightly.  No wonder that Chuck and I are enjoying our retirement time in Center.  We moved here in June of '95, back to my original home on Carroll Street.

Our Children:  MONT, our single son, is working in Alaska right now.

SUSAN GUEDEA is married to Joey, is a real estate appraiser in Dallas,                         lives in Merryman Park there and has one and half yr. son, Jonah.

MARY, our youngest daughter, is an attorney in Houston, married to                          Robbie Thompson.

CHARLIE lives in Houston, married to Libby, with two little girls, Claire                           and Mary Kate, and works for Compaq.

NANCY PEACE GLASGOW

Personal History for the Last 40 years:

Lived in Shreveport, Bossier City and Haughton, La. area for past 40 years.  Married Quinton Glasgow, June 13, 1957.  There are two daughters and two sons.  We have seven grandchildren with one on the way, plus three step grandchildren.

I worked for the telephone Co. the first 5 yrs. of my marriage, stopped to raise the children.  When the youngest one was two, I attend college for 2 yrs.  I then started working for H & R Block Income Tax Service.   I have been with them for 16 years.  For the past 10 years, I have also taught the tax course (Sept-Dec.)  During the tax season (Jan-April) I work in one of the offices as tax preparer and office supervisor.

My husband retired from the U.S. Postal Service about eight years ago.  He now owns an eighteen wheeler and drives across country.

Wish I could be there, but can't this time.   Tell all hello.

T. W. PERMENTER

Personal History for the Last 40 years:

I agree with Carolyn, forty years has come and gone, but we have may more to go.  I am looking forward to the many more.

After graduation, I attended Panola Junior College along with Bobby Covington and many others from Center.   The bus ride and the hitch-hiking to and from college was lots of fun.  My family moved to Orange, Texas.  While attending Panola and working at Weaver's Dept. Store, I was staying with my grandmother in Center.

I went to work for Beall's Dept. Store and moved to Orange, where I attended Lamar University.  In 1958, I went to work for DuPont Chemical Company in Orange and have been with them for 38 years.

Married to Lyndia Burton of Orange, we have two sons, one daughter, and one grandson, and two granddaughters.  Ty lives in Houston.  He is a RN and works at St. Luke's Hospital in Houston.   Clint and family live in Orange where he works for Firestone Chemical Co.   Parrish works at Baptist Hospital in Orange where my wife is personnel director.

My father is retired, my two brothers and their families live in Orange.  Bobby works at DuPont and Billy is a police officer.

Lyndia and I do a lot of traveling.  We have a travel trailer and we are going somewhere all the time.   At the end of next year, we hope to do it full time.  WHEN we win the lotto there is no telling what we will do.

As Carolyn has said, this brings back lots of memories, especially the Circle Inn and the other things.

We will see the Class of '56 and others on Oct. 12.

PAT RHODES VAUGHN

Personal History for the Last 40 years:

On March 31, 1981, after almost twenty years in Management with an affiliate of Tenneco Inc. in Houston, I ended my working career.

My husband, Bill Stovall, who is an attorney, and I were ready for a slower paced life.  Twenty-five years of Houston traffic was enough.   We purchased and old home in Kilgore with some acreage and even bought several head of cattle.  Of course, in relocating to Kilgore, meant we would be closer to Dusty and Doyline and the boys.  Remodeling of the home has begun, but after a lengthy illness, Bill passed away on January 13, 1983.

On December 31, 1992, I married Sam Vaughn, a Chemical Engineer with the Texas Eastman Company.  From this marriage, I became and instant mother and grandmother.  For someone with no birth children, I now have five daughters, five granddaughters, three grandsons and one great-grandson.

Sam and I spend our time traveling.  We enjoy cruises, especially the Mississippi Queen, attending Elderhostels (which we, the Class of '56 now qualify-age 55 or older) and traveling in our motorhome.

Hobbies are ballroom dancing, home improvements, yardwork, crafts and cooking.  Of course, I work these in when we are not traveling.

We attend First United Methodist Church of Longview, where we usher, and are members of Henry Foster Bible Study Class.
