GLORIA NELL KINNEY JOHNSON
Gloria Nell Kinney Johnson, 75, died April 23, 2025.  Interment was in Brittain Creek Cemetery, Shelbyville.  She was born November 6, 1949 in Shelbyville, Texas to C. Dale Kinney and Late LeElla Cartwright.  She was preceded in death by, Husband, C.J. Johnson; Father, C. Dale Kinney; Mother, LeElla Cartwright; Son, Lathan Johnson; Brothers, Ray and Daniel Boone Kinney; Mother-in-law, Ella Johnson.  Survivors include, Children, Gloria Jean Johnson, Johnny Johnson (Dorothy), Brenda Johnson (Selvin), Linda Cartwright (Frank), Lisa Johnson, Penelope Johnson (Bo); Sisters, Mary Jean, Queen Cartwright; Brother, Bobby Sparks; Sister-in-law, Faye Johnson; Brothers-in-law, Coleman Johnson, Jr., Donny Johnson.

BRUCE YARBROUGH
Bruce Yarbrough, 74, died April 26, 2025, in Lockhart, Texas.  Interment was in Cold Springs Cemetery, Nacogdoches County.  He was born July 28, 1950, to Eugene “Shorty” Yarbrough and Lucille Christopher Yarbrough in Grisby Community, on the Shelby County line. He graduated from Center High School in 1968. He was preceded in death by, Parents; Brothers, Troy, Kenneth, Joe, Spencer; Sister-in-law, Elaine Yarbrough.  Survivors include, Children, Cade and Traci, Nathan and Micki; Sister, Lagene Smoke and Jerry; Former wife and friend, Debra; Sisters-in-Laws, Francis Yarbrough Williams, Jean Yarbrough.

VERNON DALE FREEMAN
Vernon Dale Freeman, 91, of Center, Texas, died Friday, May 2, 2025, in Nacogdoches, Texas.  Interment was in Joaquin Cemetery, Shelby County.  He was born September 12, 1933, in Joaquin, Texas, to Larnell Lee Freeman and Britt Annie Nunley.  Retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel, Verlon served in the United States Army Reserves and was also a veteran of the Korean War.  He was preceded in death by, Parents, Larnell lee Freeman and Britt Annie Nunley; Brothers, Travis Freeman, J.C. Freeman, Dennis Freeman, Billy Freeman.  Survivors include, Wife, Vanda Sampson Freeman; Sons, Jason Sampson Freeman and wife Amanda, John Paul Freeman; Brother, Charles Freeman and wife Frances; Sisters-in-law, Katherine Freeman, Margaret King Freeman.

LOUIS RILEY BARCELONA
Louis Riley Barcelona, 66, of Joaquin, died May 3, 2025, in Garrison.  Interment will be in Antioch Cemetery, Shelby County.  He was born November 13, 1958, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to Ronald Barcelona and Velma Lorraine Miller Barcelona. He was preceded in death by, Parents.  Survivors include, Wife, Debra Barcelona of Joaquin; Son, Stephen Griffin of Center; Daughter, Jennifer Windham and husband Dean of Center; Sister, Rhonda Galloway and husband Eddie of Foley, Alabama.

WILLIAM GLENN WILBURN
William Glenn Wilburn, 75, of Center, Texas, died May 1, 2025, at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston, Texas.  Interment will be in Oaklawn Memorial Park, Center, Texas.  He was born on December 16, 1949, in San Augustine, Texas to Clayton Wilburn and Lois Carpenter. He enlisted in the army to serve his country in the Vietnam War from 1969 until 1971. He was preceded in death by, Parents; Wife, Peggy Fox Wilburn; Brother Jerry Wilburn.  Survivors include, Wife, Kathy Wilburn, Center; Children, Jason Wilburn and wife, Wendy Wilburn, Center, Sean Wilburn,  Lewisville, Texas; Step-Children, Misty Fagan and Husband, Brandon Fagan, Austin, Texas, Kris Eaves, Center; Sister, Louise Bennefield, San Augustine; Sister-in-Law, Beulah Wilburn, Silsbee, Texas.

Laverne Goings Adams, 99, died May 1, 2025.  Interment was in Adams Cemetery, Shelby County.  She was born on February 1, 1926, to Frank and Callie Goings.  She was preceded in death by, Parents; Husband, Butch Adams; Son, Osburn Adams, Jr.; Daughter, Marsha Singletary;Sister, Gae Haeberlin; Infant brother.  Survivors include, Daughter, Melba Lee.

THOMAS FERNS DEMPSEY
Thomas Ferns Dempsey, 64, died April 9, 2025, in Lafayette, Louisiana.  He was born in Houston, Texas on September 7,1960 to Joseph and Hildred Dempsey. He was preceded in death by, Parents; Sister, Cathy; Brother, Joey; Brother-in-law, Dannie. Survivors include, Sisters, Mary, Susan, Colleen, and Maureen; Wife, Deanna; Stepchildren, Kevin, Kerri, Zachary.  

Services will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025 in Livingston, Texas.
