MOZELLE SMITH
Mozelle Smith, 90, died August 12, 2025. Interment was in Westview Cemetery, Center, Texas.  She was born January 2, 1935 to Sam Jackson and Mamie Dixon Jackson in Rural, Shelby County, Texas.  Survivors include, Sons, Jackie Canton (Irmgard) of Las Vegas, Nevada, Wilbert Simmons, Jr. (Louniece) of Center, Alvin Smith, Sr. of Nacogdoches; Daughters, Charlene Cooper (Robert) of Center, Brenda Malone (Odell) of Center; Brother, Dennis Jackson of San Augustine.

Services are under the directions of Sid Roberts Funeral Home, Nacogdoches, Texas.

 

 

 

JAMES WYLIE  “J.W.” BRADEN
James Wylie “J.W.” Braden, 98, of Center, died August 15, 2025, in Center.  Interment was in Oaklawn Memorial Park, Center.  He was born June 3, 1927, in Mexia, Texas, to Wylie Robinson Braden and Lavada Samford Braden. He graduated from Center High School.   He was inducted into the Center High School Hall of Fame.  He was preceded in death by, Wife, Mollie A. Brittain Braden; Wife, Edna “Bobbie” Gay Braden; Sister, Ruthelma Lou Adams.  Survivors include, Children, James W. (Brad) Braden, Jr. of Clarkston, Georgia, Julie Ann Braden of Cypress, Texas, Susan Braden Hobbs and husband Tim of Henderson, Kentucky, Nancy Braden Platzner and husband Todd of Huntsville, Texas.

ROBERT DAVID COUSINS
Robert David Cousins, 79,  died August 14, 2025.  Interment was in Martinsville Cemetery.  He was born December 3, 1945 in Kountze, Texas to Weldon and Francis Cousins.  He was drafted into the United States Marine Corp in 1966 to serve in Vietnam for two tours.  Robert’s passion for teaching and love for others was most evident in the hallways of Timpson High School. He was a beloved Agriculture Science teacher for 26 years and High School Principal for eight years.  He was preceded in death by, Father, Weldon Daniel Cousins; Mother, Francis Butler Cousins; Siblings, Alice Faye Perry Johnson, Charlotte Perry, DeAnn Dorward, Diane Watson, Jill Rose, David Misck; Mother-in-law, Winna Jean Fancher; Sister-in-law, Linda Pierce; Brother-in-law, Randy Fancher.  Survivors include, Wife, Sheila Sue Fancher Cousins; Daughters, Kristin Cousins Powers and husband, Justin Lee Powers, Rebecca Cousins Brightwell and husband, Samuel Mark Brightwell; Siblings, Jack Cohn, Ruby Bull, Barb Mathews.

GLENN EARL SOWELL
Glenn Earl Sowell, 68, of Shelbyville, died August 16, 2025, in Nacogdoches.  Interment was in Rather Cemetery, Shelby County.  He was born January 7, 1957, in Hearne, Texas, to James Kelly Sowell and Frances Inez Deason Sowell.  He was preceded in death by, Parents; Brothers, Johnny Michael Sowell, James Delton Sowell,  Donald Lee Sowell; Sister, Barbara Jean Sowell.  Survivors include, Wife, Debra Moore Sowell; Son, Josh Sowell and wife Chelsey; Daughter, Sara and husband Will Lloyd; Brothers, Charles Ray Sowell and wife Carolyn, Bobby Wayne Sowell and Chuck, Robert Kelly Sowell and wife Cindy; Sisters, Mary Frances Burks, Alice Faye Waggoner, Ruby Lynn and husband Maurice Metcalf, Bronda Sue Blackmon.

WENDELL JOHNSON
Wendell Johnson, 82, of Center, died August 15, 2025, in San Augustine, Texas.  Interment was in Rather Cemetery, Shelby County.  He was born on February 6, 1943, to the late Elmer Johnson and Edna Carr in Ft. Worth, Texas.  Survivors include, Daughters, Dedra Taylor of San Augustine, Stephenia (Dwight) Preston of Center.

THOMAS VON MYERS
Thomas Von Myers was born August 29, 1951.  He lived most of his life in Timpson, Texas.  I believe he attended Timpson ISD.  He was living with his grandmother after graduation in Timpson. Von served in the Navy.  He was preceded in death by, Infant son, Jeffery Myers, Dad, Thomas Sidney Myers; Mother, Verlene Myers.  He was cremated an no services were held. He is survived by his only daughter, April Boucher. and three grandchildren, Devin Boucher, Natalie Jones and Makayla Boucher.

 

 

 

 

 

DOMINGA HERNANDEZ PALACIOS
Dominga Hernandez Palacios, 82, of Center, died August 19, 2025, in Center. Interment was in Oaklawn Memorial Park, Center.  She was born January 8, 1943, in Dolores Hidalgo, Guanajuato, Mexico, to Jose Hernandez and Paula Juarez. She was preceded in death by, Parents; Sister, Lucia Hernandez.  Survivors include, Children, Maria and Estela, Cecilio and Maricela, Juan Jose and Margarita, Efren and Lourdes, Tono and Gerarda, Alejandro and Eva, Bertha and Delfino, Rosario and Oscar, Dario and San Juana, Daniel and Nancy.
