LUTHERINE JONES SOWELL
Lutherine Jones Sowell, 93, of Nacogdoches, died February 7, 2026, in Nacogdoches. Interment was in Lower Chireno Cemetery.  She was born on July 17, 1932, in San Augustine to Leroy and Clarice Jones.  She was preceded in death by, Husband, Jack Sowell; Parents; Brothers, Robert Lewis Jones, Albert Marlon Jones, Carlton Ray Gore; Sisters, Lynda Wagstaff, Shirley Hightower.  Survivors include, Husband, Lenard Sowell; Daughter, Clarice Mooney and husband, Tommy; Son, Roger Sowell and wife, Doris; Lenard’s children, Riki Sowell and wife, Teri, Joe Sowell and wife, Julie,
Lenette Spivey and husband, Randy; Sister, Ilene Smith.
Services are under the direction of Laird Funeral Home, Nacogdoches, Texas.

PATRICIA JOHNSON MOORE
Patricia Johnson Moore, died, January 26, 2026, her 68th birthday.  She was born as the fifth child to Noble and Pauline Johnson.  She was preceded in death by, Parents; Son, Jermaine Johnson; Brother, Noble Johnson, Jr.  Survivors include, Husband, Irvin Moore of San Augustine; Children, Son, Tim Johnson of Nacogdoches, Dereck Johnson of Mansfield, LA.; Daughter, Nanette Johnson of Center; Brothers, Charles (Era Mae) Johnson of Center, Willie (Rachel) Johnson of Nacogdoches, Dan (Tammy) Johnson of  Tenaha; Sister, Linda Rushing of Center.
Services entrusted to Community Funeral Home, Center, Texas.

LINDA SUE WALLACE
Linda Sue Wallace, 91 of Timpson, died February 9, 2026 in Timpson.  Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Timpson.  She was born in Logansport, Louisiana to Vernon and Reta Moore Wallace.  She was raised in the Timpson area and graduated as Valedictorian from Timpson High School in 1953. She was preceded in death by, Parents, aunts and uncles.  She is survived by numerous cousins
Services are under the direction of Taylor Funeral Home, Timpson, Texas.

FRANCES WARE BOWLIN
Frances Ware Bowlin, 91, of Tenaha, died February 13, 2026.  Interment was in Ramah Cemetery, Tenaha.  She was preceded in death by, Parents, Ralph Lamar Ware and Katie Crump Ware; Husband, Benjamin Morris Bowlin, Jr.; Brother, Jimmy Lamar Ware; Sister, Rose Ware Culver; Sons, Benjamin Lamar Bowlin, Bryan Wade Bowlin.  Survivors include, Daughter, Beverly Bowlin Martin and husband Keith, of Tenaha; Daughter-in-law, Terry Dean Bowlin, of Tenaha.

ALPHA OMEGA MYERS
Alpha Omega “Mickie” Myers, 90, of Joaquin, died February 15, 2026.  Interment was in Old Home Cemetery, Shelby County.  She was orn August 15, 1935,to Willis Jason Booker and Tiny Ethel Magness Booker.  She was preceded in death by, Husband, Huey P. Myers; Son-in-law, Billie R. Warren; Siblings, Houston Booker, Willie B. Ward, Boone Booker, J.F. Booker, Sybele Lum, Evelyn Hensley, Louise Rasco, James Booker, and Edgar Booker.  Survivors include, Daughter, Debora Ann Warren of Joaquin.

JOE SPANN
Joe Spann, 84, died February 14, 2026. Interment was in Spann’s Chapel Cemetery, Shelby County.  He was born January 3, 1942 in Shelbyville, Texas to Charlie and Estelle Spann.  He joined the Army and  served in Fort Collins in Colorado.  He was preceded in death by, Parents; Sister.  Survivors include,  Daughters, Kelly Glos, Tracey Walters (Conrad).

MARGIE MORRIS THIBERT
Margie Morris (Townsend) Thibert, 85, died February 13, 2026.  Interment was in Strong Cemetery, Shelby County.  She was preceded in death by, Parents, Alton and Lula Morris; Daughter, Kelly; Son-in-law, Glen.  Survivors include, Brother, Joe; Sister-in-law, Sue; Daughter, Heather (Doug) with grandsons, Carson and Victor; Daughter, Erin (Greg) with grandson, Evan.

VIVIAN MAE LUMAN
Vivian Mae Luman, 92, of Center, Texas, died February 16, 2026, in Center, Texas.  Interment was in White Rock Cemetery, Shelby County.  She was born January 5, 1934, in Center, Texas, to Carter Hooper and Vernice (Gipson) Hooper.  She was preceded in death by, Husbands, Dennis Lucas, E.C. (Dock) Luman; Parents; Brothers, Travis Hooper, Verlon Hooper; Sisters, Essie Soape, Dessie Knight.  Survivors include, Children, Rebecca “Becky” Bentley, William Lucas and wife JoAnn, Elizabeth Sanchez and husband Rick.

BETTY WINDHAM DENBY
Betty Windham Denby died February 17, 2026.  Interment was in Patroon Cemetery, Shelby County.   She was preceded in death by, Husband, Willie Sam “Bill” Denby; Parents, Earl and Nellie Windham; Brothers, James Wyat, Bro. Billy Windham; Sister-in-law, Nettie Lee Windham.  Survivors include, Children, Tony Denby of the Dunnigan Community, Earlene Mitchell of Gooberhill, Timmy Denby and wife Lori of Lout Town; Brother, Don Windham and wife Linda of Gooberhill; Sister-in-law, Carol Windham of the Dunnigan Community.

CLYDE SMITH
Clyde Smith, 88, of Center, died February 18, 2026, in Center.  Interment was in Smith Cemetery, Shelby County.  He was born April 1, 1937, in Louisiana, to Job Smith and Netty Miller Smith. He served in the United States Military as a Merchant Marine. He was preceded in death by, Wife, Barbara Smith; Children, David Smith, Diana Burress, Lisa K. Smith; Parents.  Survivors include, Children, Joe C. Smith, Myke Smith and wife Shiloh, Laurie Miller and husband Curtis Fountain.

LESTER EUGENE HUGHES
Lester Eugene Hughes, 86, died December 21, 2025 at his home in Rusk, Texas.  A memorial service was held February 14, 2026 at the First Methodist Church, in Rusk with his ashes being buried in Cedar Hill Cemetery.  He was born January 24, 1939, in Center to Voyde and Nara Emanis Hughes.  In 1961, at age 29, he began his career as band director for junior high and high school at Rusk ISD where he served for sixteen years.  He married Fay Birkelbach and they had two daughters, Cynthia and Adriene.   He was preceded in death by,  Parents; Brother, Bruce Hughes.   Survivors include, Wife Fay Birkelbach Hughes, Daughters, Cynthia Hughes Campbell of Tyler, Adriene Hughes Stanland and husband, Jason of Appleby, Texas.
