Rosalie Ruby Grant, 61, of Center, Texas, died July 26, 2026, in San Augustine, Texas.  She was born on April 29, 1965, in the Philippines, to Alfredo Ruby and Leonarda “Melanie” (Castro) Ruby.  She was preceded in death by, Father, Alfredo Ruby.  Survivors include, Husband, Bryce Grant; Daughter, Ashley Grant-Zucker and husband Daniel; Mother, Melanie (Castro) Ruby; Sisters, Rosemin Ruby and husband Narvaez, Lei Ruby.  In accordance with Rosalie’s wishes, she will be cremated. Eva Melton, 96, of Joaquin, died July 28, 2026.  Interment was in Lone Cedar  Cemetery.  She was born in June of 1930 to Annis and John Norris Scruggs.  She had 5 brothers (Hervy, Chuck, Hilburn, Joe, and John Lloyd Kilpatrick) and 5 sisters (Maydell, Lera, Avis, Errollene, and Audrey).  She graduated from Joaquin High School.  Survivors include, Brother, Joe Scruggs; Daughter, Sharon Southard; Son, Dan Melton.

Presider Melton Ray Thompson, 81, died July 25, 2026 in a Longview Hospital. He was born on May 19,1945 to Tennessee Thompson, Father and Jennie V. (Davis) Thompson, Mother, in San Augustine, Texas.  He attended school in Shelbyville, after which he served in the United States Army in Vietnam from 1968 through1973, He was in the 5th Brigade and served as a chef. He was preceded in death by, Brothers, Marvin Ray Thompson, O'Neal Thompson, Claude Thompson, Fredrick Thompson, Earsie Thompson, Elzie Thompson, Donell Thompson; Sisters, Mamie Thompson Bluford, Mary Thompson Young.  Survivors include, Wife, Elder Dephine Horn Thompson; Brothers, Archie Thompson (Sharon), Stephen Thompson (Feleshia), Leonard Thompson; Sisters, Clara Thompson Dergin (Gilbert), Ruthie Thompson; Children, Chaquana Thompson, Shakietha Thompson, Marshonda McCray, Felander Sanders, Howard Van Knight, Sgt. James Alan “Bubba” Scott, 56, of Timpson, Texas, died August 2, 2026, at his home. Roosevelt King, 78, of Shelbyville, Texas, died July 30, 2026.  Interment was in Haley Bush Cemetery, San Augustine.   He was born August 6, 1947 to Roosevelt King Sr. and Marguerite Jackson King.  A proud United States Army Vietnam veteran, Roosevelt served as a Corporal in Field Artillery and was a Purple Heart recipient.   He was preceded in death by, Parents; Sisters, Minnie Pearl King, Gloria Jean King.  Survivors include, Daughter, Tracy King; Son, Stacy King; Sister, Dr. Jacqueline Pierre Adams.

Robert Louis Eaden, Sr, 88, died July 29, 2026, in Nacogdoches Medical Center.  He was born March 21, 1938 to Ivan and Dovie (Brown) Eaden in Center, Texas.  He was preceded in death by, Parents; Brothers, Clarence, Cleophus, Emmett, Edward Ivan, Perry, Kennon and Wynford Eaden; Sisters, Zelma Lee Caraway Eaden, Mildred Eaden Edens, and Doris Eaden Washington.  Survivors include, Brother, Charles (Jackie) Eaden of Center; Sister, Irene Eaden Morris of Center; Sons, Robert Louis (Nikki) Eaden Jr., Terry Eaden; Daughter, Stephanie (Christopher) Thomas.
