ELTON SIMMONS
Elton “Bud” Simmons, 78, of Diboll, died September 14, 2024 in a local hospital. Interment was in Sardis Cemetery with military honors. He was born to Susie (Johnson) and Woodrow Wilson Simmons on December 7, 1945 in Columbia, Mississippi. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and did two tours in The Vietnam War. He was awarded The Purple Heart, The Bronze Star, The Navy Cross, and The Vietnamese Campaign Medal among many other accolades. During his service, he was nominated for The Congressional Medal of Honor. After proudly serving his country, he became a police officer and eventually retired from Baker Hughes. He was preceded in death by, Parents; Brother, Alton Simmons; Sister, Sue Powell.
