The Shelby County Historical Society will hold its monthly meeting March 17, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. in the Shelby County Museum on Pecan Street. Our guest speaker this month will be Mr. Bill O'Neal. Mr. O'Neal is the former Texas State Historian and is a well-known author. He has written many books about the history of Texas. He taught history for many years at Panola College.  He will speak to us about some of his current publications.  Everyone is invited to attend.

Elma Ree Singleton Suell, 75, died February 22, 2020. Interment was in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Shelby County.  She was born in Center, Texas to Alvord (Jack) and Martha Singleton.  She was preceded in death by,Parents; Husband, Willie Lee Suell; Daughter, Felecia E. Eden; Brothers, Leon Singleton, Alvord Singleton, Jr., Archie (Bo) Singleton, Sr.  Survivors include, Daughter she raised, Tonya Peoples Robertson; Sisters, Fannie Mae Holman of Longview, Ella Garrett (W.J.) of Center, Debra Mayweather (Donald) of Mansfield, Louisiana, Billie Daniels of Center; Brothers, Willie James Singleton of Longview, Vernon Dean Singleton (Lisa) of Shreveport, Louisiana; Sisters-in-law, Esther Singleton, Allene Singleton; Brothers-in-law, L. Gloria Garza, 71, of Center, died February 28, 2020, in Nacogdoches.  Interment was in Oaklawn Memorial Park, Center, Texas.  She was born September 7, 1948, in Melchor Musquiz Coahuila, Mexico, to Jesus Carrillo and Herlinda Albarado Carrillo.  She was preceded in death by, Parents; Son, Jose Garza; Two Brothers; One Sister.  Survivors include, Husband, Fernando R. Garza of Center; Children, Fernando C. Garza of Center, Jesus C. Garza of St. James, Missouri, Josefa C. Garza of Center, Gloria M. Garza of Center, Guadalupe M. ANGEL KRISTIAN DE LA ROSA
Angel Kristian De La Rosa, 16, of Joaquin, died February 26, 2020, in Joaquin. He was born June 11, 2003, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Cesar De La Rosa and Rebecca Coronado De La Rosa.  He was presently a student at Joaquin ISD and was very involved in the athletic department.  Survivors include, Parents; Sister and brothers, Tomasa M. De La Rosa of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Cesar De La Rosa Jr. of Keatchie, Louisiana,  Diamond M. De La Rosa of Redding, Pennsylvania.

Stanley Lee Pritchett, 86, of Timpson, died February 28, 2020.  Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Nacogdoches, Texas.  He was preceded in death by, Parents, William Stanley Pritchett and Fannie Louise Hewitt Pritchett; Wife, Lois Fayrene Gillis Stilley Pritchett; Her son, John Wayne Stilley; Doris Ann Norris Pritchett.  Survivors include, Sister, Shirley DeLozier; His and Doris Ann’s daughters, Vickie & husband Barry Wood, Chris Duhon, and Sondra & husband Mark Garrett; Lois’s daughter, Cynthia & husband James Cope.

Tommy Marion Guynes, 71, of Timpson, Texas, died March 2, 2020 in Timpson, Texas.  Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Timpson.  He was born February 7, 1949, in Silsbee, Texas, to  Cloyce Elmer Guynes and Dollie (Helton) Guynes.  He was preceded in death by, Parents; Son, Jimmy Michael Guynes; Daughter, Terri Michelle Guynes; Brother, Clifford Guynes;Sister, Joyce Evelyn.   Survivors include, Wife, Becky Mefford of Timpson; Son, Tommy Guynes Jr. & wife Stephanie of Gary; Daughters, Tammy Marie Guynes of Deberry, Tina Miller of Timpson; Sister, Thelma Smith of Cleveland, Texas.

Hubert Parkman, 89, of Tenaha, died March 1, 2020, in Shreveport, Louisiana.  Interment will be in Ramah Cemetery, Tenaha, Texas.  He was born October 9, 1930, in Tenaha, to Thomas Parkman and Minnie Ellen Pickard Parkman.  He was preceded in death by, Parents; Sister, Margie Parkman; Brother, Rex Parkman; Daughter, Angie Binstock.  Survivors include, Wife, Janie Parkman of Tenaha; Children, Kim Parkman & wife Frankie of Marshall, Darrell Parkman & wife Angela of Gilmer, Brad Parkman & wife Michelle of McKinney; Daughter, Sue Carr.
